Lauren Podmore

PhD Student: Lauren Podmore

Lauren has pursued cancer research for over a decade, first with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from University of Toronto, followed by a Master of Science in Experimental Medicine from McGill University. After graduating, she worked as a research technician at the Hospital for Sick Children, assisting with projects relating to neurological cancers, before returning to the University of Toronto to obtain her doctorate in the Department of Medical Biophysics. As a PhD student, Lauren joins the Haibe-Kains lab to study the suppression of mutant oncogenes in the context of cancer, aiming to expand her bioinformatics knowledge and skillset in ways that inform her wet-lab work, which surrounds cancer cell signaling and is performed under the co-supervision of Dr. Vuk Stambolic.
